On November 12th, 2024, Microsoft announced some upcoming major changes to pricing for customers of its cloud-based subscription licenses. These changes will be released in two waves, the first of which will be December 1st, 2024, and the second on April 1st, 2025.
In this announcement Microsoft is introducing a monthly billing option for customers that are looking to spread out billing for Copilot licenses: Copilot Changes: Monthly Billing for Annual Subscriptions
With the changes to Copilot billing, Microsoft will be changing annual term billing for several other cloud-based licenses, including Microsoft 365 and Office 365 licenses, to standardize billing across their multiple products. This is important to note as it may increase costs 5% annually: Billing Structure Standardization and Pricing Update
Microsoft is also preparing to implement the first price increases for two standalone products, Power BI and Microsoft Teams Phone: Power BI Price Update, Teams Phone Price Update
