Starting April 1, 2025, Microsoft will implement new pricing for Power BI licenses. This update reflects the continuous enhancements and value added to Power BI since its launch. Here are the key details:
Updated Pricing
- Power BI Pro: The price will increase to $14 per user per month. This update applies to both new and renewing customers.
- Power BI Premium Per User: The price will be updated to $24 per user per month. This change also applies to new and renewing customers.
Rationale Behind the Price Update
- Continuous Innovation: Since its launch in 2015, Power BI has consistently delivered monthly updates and enhancements, transforming how organizations share and consume data-driven insights. The price increase reflects the significant investments in innovation and the added value provided to users over the years.
- Competitive Pricing: Despite the price increase, Power BI Pro remains competitively priced compared to other business intelligence solutions in the market.
Impact on Customers
- Existing Customers: Current customers will continue to pay their existing rates until their next renewal. At that point, they will transition to the new pricing structure.
- New Customers: New customers purchasing Power BI Pro and Power BI Premium Per User licenses after April 1, 2025, will be subject to the updated pricing immediately.
- Government, EDU, and Non-Profit Customers: These segments are currently not impacted by the pricing update.
